The Jubilee 2025 Turn Debt into Hope campaign calls on wealthy countries to end the unjust debts that poorer countries have had to pay due to exploitation and neo-colonialism. This would allow these countries to direct this money to climate response and to social protection for those in need. The campaign also recognizes that the richer nations, being the highest polluters and carbon emitters, have an obligation to support poorer countries experiencing the worst impacts of climate change.
This is a global campaign, with a Canadian effort being led by Kairos with a range of ecumenical partners, including Development and Peace Caritas Canada, the Office of Religious Congregations for Integral Ecology (ORCIE), Citizens for Public Justice, and more.
