Vocations What Does It Mean

2 Figures Did you know that vocations are lived every second of every day, of every year, by every one on earth?

Discovering what one ought to do with one's life usually begins with a question. Sometimes people discover they are asking the wrong question ...The real question is not - do you have a vocation, but rather,

which vocation are you called to live, what invitation is God extending to you? Discernment is needed.

It is important to put any discernment in a broad context. God calls all people into life. In baptism, we are immersed into the life of Christ and called to be holy, to be of service and love even when it is not easy. There are different life styles or paths from which we can choose; one could marry, be single, be a diocesan priest or a religious sister, priest or brother.

If you are looking at religious life, as a Sister of St. Martha you need to know the following about the Marthas. To live as a Sister of St. Martha is to say yes to a journey filled with surprise, wonder, hospitality, and growth in knowledge of self and God. Other women, who are trying to live simply and for God alone will accompany you.

If you are seeking deeper meaning and have a desire to listen and respond to the cries around us for life and compassion, then you may be experiencing an invitation to the Sisters of St. Martha. The radical and freeing choices of chastity, poverty and obedience will be lived out in community and enlivened by both personal and communal prayer.

Like Martha in the scriptures, you will be challenged to be a woman of undaunted hope. You will be placing your life with women who through the graciousness of our God attempt to make a difference in the world. Do you desire to make a difference?
